Youth Clubs Olympic Games – Borjomi 2006-Borjomi 2014

This May the city of Borjomi hosted the Youth Olympic Games – Borjomi 2006-Borjomi 2014. During the event, 20 school-based youth clubs from all over Georgia took part in football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and chess tournaments.</p> <p>The event consisted of three components scheduled over two days. Preliminary games were launched on Saturday and the final matches and closing and awards ceremony took place on Sunday, May 21 at the Borjomi Central Sports ground. During their speechs, Gamgebeli of the Borjomi Region, Gia Talakhadze and Georgian MP Nodar Grigalashvili stressed the importance of such events outside Tbilisi. At the ceremony the winners of the competitions were given awards by Georgian Olympic Champions Giorgi Asanidze and Zurab Zviadauri, and Georgian MP Nodar Grigalashvili. Sunday’s activities also included friendly matches between youth clubs, journalists, organizers, and guests.
