First Joint Workshop for South Caucasus UNAs Held in Georgia

2006-04-10

On December 6-7, 2005 the United Nations Association of Georgia launched its first ever annual meeting to target the enforcement and development of the UNA network across the South Caucasus. This tri-party workshop was labeled "Sharing the Experience of UNA Georgia.” During the meeting participants from UNA Georgia focused on sharing 10 years worth of experience with the newly established UNAs from Armenia and Azerbaijan (initiative group), discussed opportunities for technical and/or consulting assistance for furthering the progress of the organization and prospects for collaborative regional projects and activities. This effort was made possible under the auspices of the "<a href="http://una.ge/eng/mdgpromo.php">Confidence Building and MDG Promotion in the South Caucasus</a>” program, which is being implemented in cooperation with UNA Sweden. The participants were given a series of documents relating to the technical aspects of the UNA associations’ organizational functioning – ranging from financial documentation to internal regulations.</p> <p> The partners agreed on the main directions for further cooperation and created plans to enhance future partnerships. UNA Georgia hopes that this workshop will contribute to the creation of common visions and principles for UNA activities throughout the Caucasus region and will further lead to a signing of a joint Cooperation Agreement.
