NITG supports the Ministry of Education and Science initiative in Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe Javakheti regions

On June 15 Ghia Nodia, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia officially opened the computer center in Dmanisi initiated by Heidar Aliev Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The ceremony was attended by David Kirkitadze, Kvemo Kartli Governor and Namib Hasan Oglu Aliev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Georgia.</p> <p>Heidar Aliev Foundation renovated the Center, purchased 75 computers and provided technical assistance. The Center offers the population computer and English language learning courses.</p> <p>The Ministry of Education and Science will provide the center with the educational materials, such as Georgian Language Handbook Tavtavi for non-Georgian schools, different educational programs and trainings for local teachers.</p> <p>Mr. Ghia Nodia will also visit the study course of the University Entrance Preparation Program for the National Entrance Exams. The Preparation Program intends to support ethnic minorities’ in obtaining the high quality education and promote their civil integration. The courses are available not only in Kvemo Kartli (Dmanisi, Marneuli, Tsalka, Gardabani), but also in Samtskhe Javakheti region (Ninotsminda and Akhalkalaki). In frames of the program, experts developed the preparation curriculum of Georgian Language and General Skills courses for students; 30 local teachers were retrained. More than 250 ethnic minority university entrants will benefit from the program.</p> <p>Georgian Language and General Skills Courses for non-Georgian Language Speaker University Entrants program is developed and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in partnership with UN Association of Georgia (UNAG), under the National Integration and Tolerance in Georgia program (NITG), funded by USAID. The program aims at strengthening the access to education system for the non-Georgian speaking university entrants.</p> <p>The guests also attended the national holiday in Gomarety village, where the local population organized diverse cultural and sport events.
