The members of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of UNAs met today for an extraordinary session on the situation in Ukraine and issued a statement strongly condemning the actions of the Russian Federation, expressing solidarity with the people and government of Ukraine who are bravely resisting Russia's assault on their freedom, and calling for the enforcement of Article 27 (3) in the UN Charter, which states that “a party to a dispute shall abstain from voting”. "No Permanent Member should be able to veto a Chapter VI resolution regarding a dispute in which they are involved" - reads the statement.
